AN ANTIQUE KARBAGH RUNNER, SOUTH CAUCASUS

The charcoal-black field with single column of linked serrated lozenge medallion, each containin multicoloured angular palmettes in a shape of open panel. Similar half panels at each side. In soft pistachio-green border of polychorme palmettes, angular vine, S- motif and checkered lozenges between camel-brown angular floral meander, reciprocal and plain stripes, approx: 433cm. x 104cm. Beautiful example for this type with very good colour combination and well drawn design. This runner has slightly corroded black otherwise good pile. Scattered old repiling, very well done. Cord on selvages repalced also well done. Ends with short fringes and original kilim slighty fraying. In general this piece is in very good usable condition. Elegant and very good furnishing piece.
