engraved pictorial title page, lacking engraved portrait of Vesalius, 40 engraved anatomical plates, including the ‘Adam & Eve plate ( often missing), with an additional plate by Monogrammist RS: Anatomy with multiple liftable flaps to reveal the interior organs of a naked man and woman seated beside each other c.1559, occasionally highlighted in colour, this copy interleaved with contemporary manuscript pages indexing the body parts against the alphabet within the engravings, early 18th century Cambridge style binding, later reback, red leather lettering label, modern end-papers, plate I) lower r/h torn with slight loss, plate d) torn at fore-edge with slight loss, folio, Amsterdam: Joannes Jansonius, 1617.
*** The date on the last page has been overwritten in ink, changing it from 1601 to 1617. The plates have text captions in both Latin and German, having been otherwise taken directly from Thomas Geminus' 1545 edition.
