An Uncommon A3 Petzval Portrait Lens (CDV?) by Grubb, Dublin.

An Uncommon A3 Petzval Portrait Lens by Grubb, Dublin. Circa 1860, serial number #860. Probably a Petzval CDV portrait lens of approx 5 1/4" focal length (inspection recommended) but seems to fully cover the accompanying (mis-matched?) un-named wood and brass half plate camera. Rack and pinion mount missing one small screw, and VERY stiff to focus. See: D'Agostini & Rose: Photographic Lenses in 19th Century Great Britain and Ireland, NAJS 2001, p298. Camera is in good overall condition with slightly misshaped bellows to one side. Comes with 3 DDS.

Estimated at £400 - £600
