A George III sterling silver waiter, London 1800, by George Smith (II) & Thomas Hayter (reg. 7th Jan 1792, dissolved before 21st May 1805)

Of oval form with cavetto edge and reeded rim, raised on four reeded splay feet, the field centre engraved with a crest of demi-fish, within bright cut engraved guilloche and prick dot bands. Fully marked to the reverse and with scratch weight ‘Wt 26:5’.

Length – 23.5 cm / 9.2 inches

Weight – 374 grams / 12 ozt

The crest is for Cron or Crone

Working from 4 Huggin Lane, Wood Street. Smith dies between 1802 and 1811.
