A collection of letters and cards sent to British actress Nora Nicholson by famous actors, including: Alec Guinness (manuscript note on addressed card and signed photo); Noël Coward (typed signed letter); Richard Burton (typed signed letter); Terence Rattigan (printed programme for Macbeth at the Theatre Royal Bristol, 1946, with personal note pencilled on front cover); Ralph Richardson (signed Christmas card); Michael Redgrave (signed card with inserted photo (also signed by Rachel Kempson) plus laid in a note from Redgrave to June Wyndham Davies; Patrick Garland (typed signed letter and manuscript note; press cutting and note re a performance to ‘Ivanov’); Christopher Fry (a small collection of items including birthday telegram; programmes for The Lady’s Not For Burning, Christmas card; manuscript letter); John Gielgud (a group of letters and a Christmas card, including a touching letter to thank her for her support after his arrest in 1953, one studio photograph by Yousuf Karsh, signed and inscribed to Norma, inscription and signature almost entirely faded); Sybil Thorndike (a group of Christmas cards, manuscript letters, a note from flowers sent and a signed photo); Raymond Massey (signed programme for ‘I never Sang for my Father”); Alan Bennett (collection of items including manuscript letters and postcards; large, signed photograph and a signed card and photo from Bennett and the cast of Forty Years On); (small quantity)
