A FINE HERIZ CARPET, NORTH-WEST PERSIA

The light rust field with angular vine issuing hooked leaves and angular palmettes around large hooked and steppe indigo medallion with similar design enclosing ivory large floral centrepiece. Wide ivory floral spandrels. In an indigo border of stylised turtle-palmettes, rosettes and angular vine between flowering vine stripes, approx: 402cm. x 335cm. Very good type, sought after at present market. Very good colour combination. Both ends secured with small losses to guard stipes. Salvages original with slightly fraying wool on cord. Localised wear with loss on the pile towards one end and tiny one at one side. The carpet has slight dirt stains at one end which should be improved with light cleaning. Otherwise this carpet has good pile and in general is in very good usable condition. Very nice square shape. Attractive .
