A Victorian unmarked gold and sodalite vinaigrette

Rectangular form with hinged lid, inset panel missing, lift out pierced grill. Housed in a fitted case branded for Josephy Pyke, 138 New Bond Street London.

Length – 4.1 cm / 1.6 inches

Gross weight – 22 grams

Provenance:

Amelia FitzMaurice née Samuel, Countess of Orkney (1813-1890), to her son by her first marriage

Baron Arthur Denis Samuel de Vahl (1837-1918), to his daughter

Maud de Vahl (1870-1920), to her daughter

Henrietta de Vahl Currey (1904-1978), thence by descent.
