Provenance
The artist, circa 1980, by whom gifted to the present owners
This painting, is believed to have been painted in 1970, and is one of a series of small works, how many within the series is still to be discovered. This work came as a time where Hoyland was moving away from the acrylic stained canvases which featured bold pure colour, washes and slabs as principle key elements within their compositions. This work is more textural, with heavy impasto and the shapes are more landscape than architectural.
