A 19TH CENTURY FRENCH NAPOLEON III KINGWOOD, ORMOLU AND PORCELAIN MOUNTED ESCRITOIRE A ABATTANT

A 19TH CENTURY FRENCH NAPOLEON III KINGWOOD, ORMOLU AND PORCELAIN MOUNTED SECRETAIRE A ABATTANT, IN THE LOUIS XVI STYLE, the mahogany, satinwood and kingwood banded cabinet with ormolu pierced gallery over a frieze of gilt bronze mounted oval Sevres style porcelain panels with gilt strapwork and 'jewelled' decoration on a blue ground, over a gilt bronze mount of laurel leaves, the fall front opening to the fitted interior with velvet lining and four drawers with gilt bun handles, the curved front angles recessed and with mounts cast in the full round depicting baby satyrs carrying baskets of fruit and flowers atop their heads raised on fluted tapering pedestals, the sides each with two large oval porcelain panels painted with ribbon tied trophies, the first musical and depicting a lute, tambourine and flute, the second with a basket overflowing with flowers, within pierced ormolu panels of trellis-work, the lower section with three drawers, each with a Sevres style porcelain panel depicting two pairs of 18th century courting couples within arcadian landscapes, with gilt borders and flanked by decorative panels of roses within trelliswork, with a pierced guilloche border below and a further porcelain panel depicting a maiden in landscape,
