A VERY FINE SILK QUM CARPET, CENTRAL PERSIA

The indigo field with densely woven design of polychrome palmettes, floral and leafy vine around abrashed aqua-blue floral medallion with pendants enclosing smaller light beige floral panel centrepiece. Wide beige floral spandrels similar. In an ivory border of serrated palmettes and delicate floral vine between flowering vine, reciprocal and arabesque stripes. Outer plain stripe, approx: 264cm. x 157cm. Very good type with well drawn design and good colours. This carpet has full pile, soft silk. Very fine weave, approx:8 x 7 knots per sq. cm; woven on silk foundation. Ends with fringes, secured, minute fraying in one corner. Selvages rebound, well done. In general this carpet is in very good usable condition. Elegant and very good furnishing piece.
