A 17TH CENTURY BIDRI HOOKAH BASE
Bidri Hookah base, Bidar, Deccan, Central India or Bengal, 17th century

Of typical globular shape, on flattened base, with a ringed flared neck and everted rim, the body decorated with vertical and horizontal strips of alternating silver and brass quatrefoil design. These strips border panels of stylised foliage and flowers. Neck inlaid with chevron design, 21cm high.
