A George III Irish sterling silver sauceboat, Dublin circa 1775 by Matthew West
of bellied form upon three pad feet with shell junctions, a triple C scroll handle. Marked underneath with makers mark, town mark and standard mark.

Matthew West was apprenticed to John West in 1762, elected Warden 1780-83, master 1783-4 and elected common council city of Dublin 1783, 1789, 1795 and 1801. Worked from Werburgh street 1774-83.
