In the style of Giuseppe (Yusef) Parvis, Italy or Egypt, second half 19th century

Of rectangular shape, resting on four tubular legs terminating in compressed globular feet, the leg panels featuring typical openwork mashrabiya grids and lobed arches filled with Western-looking balusters in the centre, the short side panels featuring interlocking split palmette spirals in the centre, and the long sides featuring removable drawers enhanced with carved Arabic calligraphy, the tabletop decorated with a large circular medallion in the centre inlaid with mother-of-pearl, bone, resin and ebony, featuring an intricate geometric stellar design in the centre, cusped palmettes to the top and bottom and knotwork bands around the medallion, the composition framed within a continuous knotwork band with mother-of-pearl and wood marquetry work to the edges, 77cm x 65cm x 107.5cm.

Inscription on the drawers: You have conquered the Believers, without you I would not have been, Oh Lord. // I grew up in humility, wretched and poor, so God could grant me my wishes.
