Opaque pigments heightened with gold and silver on paper, the first oval portrait depicting Maharaja Sir Mangal Singh Prabhakar of Alwar, the 6th Maharaja of Alwar (r. 1874-1892), awarded with the Star of India and appointed honourary colonel of the Indian Army, wearing pairs of roses in his hair and a flat red turban; and the second portrait depicting Maharaja Takht Singh of Jodhpur (r.1843–1873), wearing a gold, ruby, emerald, and pearl necklace and further encrusted and caparisoned turban ornaments, both portraits set within yellow and white rules, and silver and bright red borders, and backed in wasli paper, each approx. 25.5cm x 18.5cm.
