A George III sterling silver argyle, London 1779 by Henry Green and Charles Aldridge (reg.19th Aug 1775)

Of oval form with beaded rims, the tubular straight spout opposite a wooden C scroll handle pinned to sockets. The pull off central domed lid with flat terrace surmounted by an urn finial, beaded edges. The interior with an internal conical hot water well with an unmarked pull off lid with loop handle. The lid with a bright cut engraved edge. The lid and side of body engraved with a crest of out of a ducal coronet a pelican vulning herself. The underside engraved with scratch weight 11=18. Fully marked to the right of handle, the lid with makers mark and lion passant only to lid bezel.
