A LARGE PLATED BRASS SAMOVAR ENGRAVED WITH ISLAMIC MOTIFS
Possibly Egypt or Turkey, mid to late 20th century

Of typical bulbous shape, resting on a splayed circular base on four projecting feet designed as lion paws, with narrow shoulders rising to a tall cylindrical neck surmounted by a dome-shaped lid with a large wooden knob as finial, a squared handle on the side of the neck, two curved handles and the main tap on the sides of the body, all featuring wooden hand rests, the exterior engraved with typical Islamic motifs such as intertwined geometric stellar designs filled with rosette and floral stems, all against a ring-punched ground, 86cm high.
