U.S. MINISTRY OF INFORMATION, U.S. OFFICE OF WAR INFORMATION, 1940s
AN AMERICAN TOWN AND ITS WAY OF LIFE, 1940s. A set of photographic sheets (25), depicting scenes of life in Southington, Connecticut, each measuring 30 x 37.5cm (or the reverse), printed on thick card, numbered, with printed captions lower margins. This publication was prepared by the U.S. Ministry of Information in Co-Operation with the U.S. Office of War Information (OWI), as indicated on the title sheet. The OWI was a United States government agency created during World War II. The OWI operated from June 1942 until September 1945 -- through radio broadcasts, newspapers, posters, photographs, films and other forms of media, the OWl aimed to increase understanding of wartime life, though it was subject to fears and suspicions of large-scale American propaganda both at home and abroad.
