AN ELIZABETH II STERLING SILVER ROYAL COMMEMORATIVE CHRISTENING SET, LONDON 1953 BY LESLIE GORDON DURBIN (1913-2005)

Comprising a three-pronged fork, a spoon, a knife and a napkin ring. The spoon with planished hammered bowl, the knife with a filled handle and stainless-steel blade. Each element with an applied royal crown above EIIR. Each fully marked and with additional coronation mark. (4)

Spoon length – 17.6 cm / 6.9 inches

Weighable silver – 137 grams / 4.04 ozt

Leslie Durbin, CBE, MVO, (1913-2005) was apprenticed to Omar Ramsden between 1929-38. Durbin was honoured in 1982 with a one-man exhibition at Goldsmith's Hall entitled "Fifty Years of Silversmithing."
