AN ANTIQUE NORTH-WEST PERSIAN LONG KELLEH

The rust-red field with diagonal rows of open floral boteh togehter with central blue-green florla medalliopn with pendants. Spandrels similar. In an ivory border of angular vine with hooked and floral motifs between sandy-beige, ivory and blue-greem angular floral meander stripes. Outer arrowhead and plain stripes, approx: 498cm. x 180cm. Very good type, seldom found in the sales, Sauj Bulag, Kurdistan. Unusual size. This carpet has few small damages on end edges, otherwise good pile of soft and shiny wool quality. Scattered old repair on side edges with selvages sllightly fraying on wool cord. Ends with part original kilim. Despite the imperfections this long kelleh still retains the elegnce. Good furnishing size.
