Provenance: Lady Cynthia Asquith'S copy (1887-1960). Writer and anthologist, daughter of 11th Earl of Wemyss and Mary Constance Wyndham. In 1910, she married Herbert Asquith, son of the future Prime Minister. She was Secretary to the author of 'Peter Pan', J.M. Barrie between 1918 and 1937 and her other literary friends included L.P. Hartley and D.H. Lawrence. Asquith wrote novels, edited anthologies, and wrote for children and about the British Royal family. She is best remembered for her anthologies of Ghost Stories including 'My Grimmest Nightmare' (1935).
