AN AFSHAR RUG, SOUTH-WEST PERSIA

The field with three large ivory hooked and stepped medallions, each containing angular floral vine enclosing smaller serrated floral centerpiece. Linked medium blue shaped boteh motif panes at each side. Rust linked spandrels with similar design. In medium blue border of multicolourdd hooked and floral octagons togehter with bold palmettes and checkered triangels between angular floral meander and plain stripes, approx: 215cm. x 141cm. Good example for this type with well drawn design and good colour combination. Bold apperance. This rug has slight wear to the top pile in few placed down to knot collar and below, otherwise good pile. Ends with platted kilim and fringes. Cotton selvages secured. Despite the imperfections this rug is in decent usable conditon. Good furnishing piece.
