Opaque pigments, ink and pencil on paper, the vertical portrait depicting a young Indian prince standing on a palatial terrace holding in his hand a green parakeet, his orange turban similar in style to the Punjabi ones and decorated with an elaborate sarpech (turban ornament) and a black heron aigrette, set within a decorative floral frame on a dark blue ground and light grey borders, mounted and glazed in an ebonised wooden frame decorated with cusped and rounded ivory plaques framing pietra dura inlays of coloured carnelian, marble and agate slabs, 27.7cm x 22cm including the frame.
