A LATE 19TH CENTURY FRENCH PATINATED BRONZE FIGURE OF MERCURY AFTER A MODEL BY JEAN - BAPTISTE PIGALLE (FRENCH 1714 – 1785) the figure seated tying his winged sandals surrounded by flowing drapery, his caduceus staff placed below him, unmarked or signed, 39.5cm high

The piece is a copy after Pigalle's original model for his celebrated marble Mercury, completed in 1744, in the Musée du Louvre, Paris
