SHRI DAULATRAM JI WORSHIPPING SHRINATHJI IN A PRIVATE SHRINE

Opaque pigments heightened with gold on paper, the horizontal composition portraying a private puja to Shrinathji, featuring Shri Daulatram Ji on the right seated cross-legged, with his eyes closed, absorbed in meditation, his forehead marked with the typical Urdhva Pundra, the Vaishnava tilaka, on the left his sister, Revati Bai, with her head covered in sign of respect and bearing a silver tray with a tealight, in the centre the typical icon of Shrinathji adorned with several strands of pearls, golden pendants and an elaborate turban enhanced with a large bejewelled peacock feather, each character accompanied by a red or gold ink Devanagari inscription describing and naming them, the puja possibly celebrating Krishna's birthday (Janmashtami), the scene set within white, ochre yellow and silver rules, and bright red borders, 25cm x 28.5cm.
