A VERY FINE TABRIZ RUNNER, NORTH-WEST PERSIA

The indigo field with densly woven herati design around two ivory and beige cusped double medallions with pendants, containing similar design. Spandrels similar. In an ivory border of stylised turtle-palmettes, rosettes, and serrated leaves, between flowering vive, barber-pole and plain stripes, approx: 342 cm x 79cm. Very good example for this type with well drawn design and balanced colours. This carpet has full pile. Ends and selvages original. Very fine weave approx, 8 x 7 knots per sq. cm. In general this runner is in very good condition throughout. Very good furnishing piece.
