A George IV / William IV provincial sterling silver three-piece tea service, the teapot York 1827 the rest York 1833 by James Barber, George Cattle II and William North
Comprising a teapot, a milk jug and a twin handled sugar bowl. Each of compressed rectangular ogee form upon four lion paw and scroll bracket feet. The bodies with fluted decoration and gadrooned rims. The teapot with a half gadrooned curved spout opposite a leaf capped fluted handle with ivory insulators pinned to an acanthus scroll socket. The hinged domed lid surmounted by a gadrooned rectangular knop finial with a reeded ivory insulator all upon a fluted terrace. Each engraved to one side with initials WAF in cursive script. The sugar and milk with gilt interiors. Each fully marked to the side, the teapot lid with part-marks. (3)
