Qing Dynasty and later.

Comprising: three blue and white cups, three Chinese Imari cups and one cup and saucer, four famille rose cups and two cup and saucer sets, a gilt-decorated powder blue saucer and a Japanese Satsuma cup, 11cm H. (18)

Provenance: from the collection of David Scrase (1949 – 2020).

Renowned scholar and curator, David Scrase was Honorary Keeper of Italian Drawings, Honorary Marlay Group member, former Assistant Keeper, then Keeper, of Paintings, Drawings and Prints and Assistant Director (Collections) of the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge. An internationally acclaimed authority on Italian art, particularly drawings, Scrase published extensively and on a variety of subjects. His generosity was well known through the numerous thoughtful donations to the Fitzwilliam and other museums he made throughout his lifetime.
