SIX CHINESE EARLY POTTERY BOWLS.

Song Dynasty.

Comprising four Qingbai bowls incised with stylised foliage and decorated with pale blue glaze, a conical bowl with a lotus petal band to the exterior under an olive-green glaze and a white-glazed dish, 17.5cm diameter. (6)

Provenance: from the collection of David Scrase (1949 – 2020).

Renowned scholar and curator, David Scrase was Honorary Keeper of Italian Drawings, Honorary Marlay Group member, former Assistant Keeper, then Keeper, of Paintings, Drawings and Prints and Assistant Director (Collections) of the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge. An internationally acclaimed authority on Italian art, particularly drawings, Scrase published extensively and on a variety of subjects. His generosity was well known through the numerous thoughtful donations to the Fitzwilliam and other museums he made throughout his lifetime.
