A COLLECTION OF SOUTH-EAST ASIAN CERAMICS.

Comprising two large bowls carved with floral motifs under olive-green glaze, two tea bowls, one white, one green-brown, a small olive-glazed lobed jar with a pair of loop handles and two circular green boxes and covers, 17.5cm diameter. (9)

Provenance: from the collection of David Scrase (1949 – 2020).

Renowned scholar and curator, David Scrase was Honorary Keeper of Italian Drawings, Honorary Marlay Group member, former Assistant Keeper, then Keeper, of Paintings, Drawings and Prints and Assistant Director (Collections) of the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge. An internationally acclaimed authority on Italian art, particularly drawings, Scrase published extensively and on a variety of subjects. His generosity was well known through the numerous thoughtful donations to the Fitzwilliam and other museums he made throughout his lifetime.
