Ottoman Syria, 17th century
Comprising two architectural tiles, underglaze-painted in turquoise, manganese purple and cobalt blue with black outlines, each with a quarter of the final decoration, featuring a vegetal arabesque set within a poly-lobed cartouche to one corner, surrounded by a larger band of cusped arabesques, the design set within black rules and a turquoise outer border, 25cm x 24.5cm.
