Together with Burton (Lady Isabel) Life of Sir Richard Burton, 2 vol., first edition, pasted to front of vol.1, presentation ‘To dear George & Alice Bird from their affections old friend Isabel Burton 1893’, a typed letter to Lallah (possible typescript?) pasted to front free endpaper and contemporary ‘panel photograph’ of herself as mentioned in the Tl., original decorated cloth, slightly worn at extremities, 1893, 8vo. ***Together with this set are 2 original contemporary panel photograph images of Sir Richard Burton, the first of Burton in a known pose in fencing kit, signed by him in lower margin in English & Arabic text, signed on the reverse ‘Alice Bird Dec 3 1875 and in pencil Miss Bird, 3 Windmill |Hill, Hampstead, N.W., Barraud & Jerrard (Photographers), 165 x 110mm., and another of Burton in later life in top hat, presentation on reverse in pencil signed Dick & Isabel Burton and the date of Burton birth at base, G.L.Formosa, Malta (Photographer), 165 x 110mm., [1890].
