6 bottles of Magnums of Paul Grivelet Chambolle Musigny Les Amoureuses 1976

The subject of one of the most notorious wine frauds of the late 1970s. The Magnums sold to the U.S. market were cut with cheaper Rhone wines. After an intensive hunt for information on this we discovered that the winery destroyed the vintage, so hold no museum stock for comparison.

These were purchased by a British wine collector in the late 1970's, having dined with the Grivelets personally, these were then purchased through a European merchant who was a personal friend to both owner and the Grivelets. Other magnums from this order were poured at the owners wedding and these have remained.

We have an open offer to verify these bottles against any known fakes, or any known bottles (that were not subject to adulteration) with Oxford based wine verification service VeriVin. However, finding other bottles of this wine as an example have proved unbelievably difficult.

Estimated at £6,000 - £9,000
