A matched pair of George II/III sterling silver candlesticks, London 1747 by John Cafe and London 1764 by Ebenezer Coker

The bases of shaped and incurved square form, the central column with circular knops and a shaped square fluted knop below a plain capital. Each engraved to the well with a quartered and impaled coat of arms within foliate mantling. Each fully marked underneath. (2)

Height – 19.5 cm / 7.75 inches

Weight – 897 grams / 28.84 ozt

The later Coker candlestick has been cast from the 1747 example by Cafe, therefore it bears cast versions of the 1747 hallmarks which has been overstruck by the 1764 examples when sent to Goldsmiths hall for marking.
