A LARGE ENGRAVED TINNED COPPER VASE
Qajar Iran, 19th century
Of typical bulbous shape with a widely everted circular rim, resting on a splayed, conical foot, the body fully engraved with multiple horizontal registers of calligraphic bands against dense vegetal scrollwork and interlocking floral trellis, the band below the rim featuring a monumental nasta'liq inscription, the rest of the calligraphic decoration contained within lobed and oval cartouches, the foot engraved with overlapping decorative fretwork bands, 44cm diam. and 52cm high.
