Opaque pigments, ink and pencil heightened with gold on laid paper, comprising eight loose illustrated folios from the Iranian epic Shahnameh (Book of Kings) and the Khamsa of Nizami Ganjavi (specifically Khosrow spying on Shirin's bath), different crucial scenes from the great Iranian classics including the hero Rustam slaying the Dragon, Rustam and Esfandiyar in battle, Rustam slaying the White Elephant, King Faridun with his consort, and more, the largest 54cm x 33.3cm, the smallest 17.8cm x 22.5cm.
