Comprising three square pottery tiles, each painted in shades of cobalt blue, green, red, yellow and brown, the central figures outlined in black, all set on white ground, one tile depicting a Western European soldier (possibly British), riding a rearing palomino steed and holding a trumpet to his lips, 25.5cm x 25.4cm; a second tile also depicting a soldier (possibly an Eastern European or Prussian Hussar), riding a white steed with his arm stretched outward as if pointing to something behind him, 25.1cm x 25.3cm; and the third tile featuring a blonde-haired European lady in a bonnet and traditional dress, possibly French, carrying a picnic basket with wine and standing on a stage edged with processional flags and a drum, 25.5cm x 26cm.
