A BRONZE ZOOMORPHIC GROUP OF AN EAGLE AND BULL Circa 1st Millennium A.D. An unusual figure composed of a bull, seated with legs tucked under its body, with a long muzzle, incised eyes and small protruding ears, a figure of an eagle standing on the back of the bull, with wings outspread, individual feathers incised on the wings and body, with hooked beak and incised eyes, 8.6cm high. Provenance: Collection of Maurice Bouvier (1901-1981); probably acquired during his time as professor at the University of Alexandria, 1930-60. Maurice Bouvier lived in Egypt from 1930-1960 and was a professor at the University of Alexandria.
