A VERY FINE PART SILK TABRIZ RUG, NORTH-WEST PERSIA

The soft charcoal-black field with fine polychorme herati design together with central ivory and mauve double medallion with pendants containing simailr pattern. Spandrels similar. In charcoal-black border of stylised multicoloured turtle-palmettes, rosettes and scrolling vine between floral, zig-zag and plain stripes, approx: 5ft.2in. x 3ft.4in.(157cm. x 102cm.). Classic for this type with well drawn design and good colour combination. This rug has full pile, soft wool quality and silk infussion. Both ends and selvages are original. Very fine weave, approx: 8 x 8 knots per sq. cm. In general this rug is in very good condition throughout. Attractive and elegant piece.
