A Chinese famille-rose 'Hou Yi' brushpot, bitong, Qing dynasty, Kangxi/Yongzheng period
清康熙 / 雍正 粉彩后羿射日圖筆筒

The finely potted brushpot of cylindrical form, decorated to the exterior with a continuous figural garden scene depicting Hou Yi carrying a bow whilst gazing at the red sun above, with two attendant boys standing beside him, one carrying a food basket and the other holding a vase adorned with flowers, the base bearing a half-leaf maker's mark
