AN ANTIQUE KARAJA RUG, NORTH-WEST PERSIA

The soft rust field with various multicoloured floral and hooked motifs around three green and light beige hooked and stepped floral medallions. In an indigo border of stylised turtle-palmettes, rosettes and angular floral vine between beige and dusty-pink angular floral meander stripes. Outer linke chain stripe, approx: 5ft.2in. x 4ft.9in.(157cm. x 145cm.) Very good type with bgood colour combination. Classic design. This rug has very slight localized wear to the top pile in few small places, barely visible. Selvages original, touches of fraying wool on cord in small places. Ends with short fringes, minute fraying at one of them. In general this rug is in very good usable condition. Attractive and very good furnishing piece.
