A FINE KASHAN RUG, CENTRAL PERSIA

The brick red field with delicate meandring floral and leafy vine, together with serrated palmettes and small rosettes, around double floral medallion pendants. Spandrels similar. In an indigo border of mutlicoloured palmettes, arabesques and floral tendrils, between flowering vine, reciprocal and plain stripes, approx: 201cm. x 131cm. Classic for this type with very good colour combination. Design is well drawn. Tiny wear on one edge, otherwise this rug has full pile of very soft wool quality. Salvages original with tiny fraying on cord edge. Ends with short fringes, also slightly fraying. Fine weave 7 x 7 knots per sq.cm. In genral the rug is in good usable condition. Very good furnishing piece.
