A SMALL MOULDED OLIVE GREEN-GLAZED POTTERY TILE
Possibly Tlemcen, Algeria, North Africa, 14th - 15th century
Of square shape, the earthenware body covered in a monochrome olive green glaze, decorated with stylised vegetal and arabesque-like motifs, mounted on a black wooden frame, 11.2cm x 11.2cm including the frame.
For a very similar example dating to the 14th century, monochrome-glazed in olive green and with analogous decoration to our lot, please see the Louvre Museum, Paris (Room 186, no. 5, inventory no. AD 7049).
