AN ATIQUE SHIRVAN KELLEH, EAST CAUCASUS

The rust-red field with five stylised animal figures around hooked and stepped medallions contining polychrome hooked panels and rosette lattice. Similar half panels at each side. In blue angular vine border between S-motifs, animal and rosette stripes. Outer barber-pole stripes, approx: 9ft.8in. x 4ft.5in.(294cm. x 135cm.) Very nice example for this type with well drawn design and good colour combination. This kelleh has wear to the pile down to knot collar and below. Few vertical small splits. Slightly corroded black. Ends with slight loss to the guard stripe. Selvage cord rebound. Conditon reflects in an estimate. In general this rug is in fair usable conditon. This rug still retains a good look.
