A VERY FINE ANTIQUE TABRIZ HAJI-JALILI PRAYER RUG, NORTH-WEST PERSIA

The deep indigo field with fine multicoloured herati design. Single floral column at each side supporting light rust floral mihrab with birds. In light rust border of multicoloured serrated palmettes, delicate floral sprays and arabesques between floral meander and plain stripes, approx; 6ft.4in. x 4ft.8in.(193cm. x 142cm.) Very good type and very nicely drawn design with well balanced colours. This rug has good pile, soft wool quality. Ends with short fringes, secured, spot of wear on the guard stripe, barely visible. Selvages original with tiny fraying in one or two places. Very fine weave, approx; 8 x 8 knots per sq.cm. In general this rug is in very good usable condition. Very attractive and elegant piece.
