A George III sterling silver sugar basket, London 1780 by Robert Hennell I (reg. 30th May 1772)
Of circular vase form with a beaded edge upon a domed pedestal foot with beaded rim. The body and foot with pierced decoration of slats and alternating bands of urns, heightened with bright cut engraved decoration. Engraved to the front with a crest of a bull's head with an acorn sprig in the mouth, charged with a cross botonée. Opposable beaded swing handle. Fitted with a removable blue glass liner. Fully marked underneath body only, makers mark defaced.
