AN ANTIQUE KUBA-SHIRVAN KELLEH, EAST CAUCASUS

The shaded rust field with polychrome hooked panels, hooked lozenges and small rosettes around two vertical columns of large shaped blue medallions, each containing bold rosettes enclosing hooked and floral stylised cruciform centerpiece. In shaded indigo border of multicoloured hooked panels between arrowhead and delicate flowering vine stripes, approx: 9ft.5in. x 5ft.6in.(286cm. x 168cm.) Very good type and well drawn design. Good colour combination and well drawn motifs. This carpet has slight even wear down to knot collar, showing warps. Black is slightly corroded. Small resawn cut at one side. Ends with short fringes, slightly fraying. Selvages rebound with localized fraying on cord wool. In general this carpet is in decent usable conditon. Elegant and good furnishing piece.
