Iran, late 19th - first half 20th century

Ink, pencil, white wash, gold and opaque pigments on paper, four archaistic compositions in vertical format, comprising two lovers tenderly embracing in an indealised landscape, in front of them a wine ewer and four ripe fruits, perhaps an invite to savouring the present moment, two corners embellished with arabesque and vegetal scrollwork in polychromes, set within three borders with floral trellis on pink, turquoise and light purple ground, mounted, framed and glazed, 47.5cm x 36.5cm; two tinted drawings with Sufi sheykhs, one absorbed into his readings, seated on the floor next to an ewer with aviary designs and the latter drinking fresh water with his hands, gently poured by an elegantly dressed woman paying respect to the wise man, both mounted, framed and glazed, the largest 39cm x 26.8cm; and a tinted drawing of a female musician playing a form of sitar, seated in an idealised landscape, within a border with gilt floral decoration with birds, mounted, framed and glazed, 35.5cm x 24cm.
