AN ANTIQUE SUMAC KELLEH, SOUTH CAUCASUS

The rust field withsingle column of rages hooked and indented medallions flanked by similar half motif at each side. In light blue border of hooked panelsand hooked palmettes togehter with angular hooked leaf vine. Outer ivory wide running-dog stripe, approx: 342cm. x 148cm. Good type, with nicvely drawn design. Unusual kelleh size also outer stripe, attributed to Seychour weaving. This carpet has scattered old repairs with touches of wear in small places. Ends with kilim and fringes. Touches of fraying to the fringes. Selvaves rebound in places. In general this carpet is in good usable condition. popular and sought after at present market. Very good furnishing piece.
