AN ANTIQUE TEKKE BOKHARA CARPET, TURKMENISTAN
Bokhara Carpet

The shaded rust-red field with four columns of stylised bold floral guls divided by checkered kotchak motifs. In rust-red bold sunburst and hooked octagon border between kotchak and barber-pole stripes. Hooked lozenge skirt at each end, approx: 333cm. x 226cm. Classic for this type with very well drawn design and good colour combinaton. This carpet has slight localized wear to the top pile down to knot collar in small places, otherwise good pile, very soft and lustrous wool quality. One or two very small holes on skirt ends, visible on closer inspection. Selvages reboubd with touches of fraying on wool cord in few small places. Ends with fringes, touches of fraying to guard stripes. In general this carpet iks in good usable condition. Attractive and very good furnishing piece.
