A VERY FINE SILK KASHAN RUG, CENTRAL PERSIA

The ivory field with stylised large flowering vase at one end together with floral trees and floral vine. Floral and arabesque mihrab above. In rich burgundy-red border of arabesques, delicate flowering vine and cloudbands between floral, reciprocal and plain stripes, approx: 200cm. x 127cm. Very good example for this type with well drawn design and good colour combination. This rug has wear on the field and border down to knot collar and below. Selvages replaces, well done. Ends with slight loss to the outer guard stripes, short fringes, secured. Very fine weave, approx; 9 x 9 knots per sq, cm, woven on silk foundation. Despite the imperfections, reflected in an estimate, this rug is in fair usable conditon. Classic.
